Jellyfish Nebula (IC443)

IC 443 (also known as the Jellyfish Nebula) is a galactic supernova remnant in the constellation Gemini. On the plane of the sky, it is located near the star Eta Geminorum (which is creating an artifact in this image from the right). Its distance is roughly 5,000 light years from Earth.

IC443 may be the remains of a supernova that occurred 30,000 – 35,000 years ago. IC 443 is an extended source, having an angular diameter of 50 arcmin (by comparison, the full moon is 30 arcmin across). At the estimated distance of 5,000 ly from Earth, it corresponds to a physical size of roughly 70 light years.

I took this image over 465 minutes i.e. ~7.5 hours (15 Luminance @10 minutes each, and 21 images of RGB of 5 minutes each).
