This trio of galaxies is sometimes called the Draco Trio, located in the northern constellation of (you guessed it) Draco. From top to bottom are edge-on spiral NGC 5981, elliptical galaxy NGC 5982, and face-on spiral NGC 5985 — all within this single telescopic field of view spanning about the width of the full moon. While the group is far too small to be a galaxy cluster, these galaxies all do lie roughly 100+ million light-years from planet Earth. Took this image over 9 hours (15, 4,4,4 LRGB images of 20 min each) and then took at least 6 hours to process this tough image and learnt some new tricks in Pixinsight.
I took another attempt at this beautiful galaxy cluster with my lower magnification telescope (Stellarvue SV130) and annotated the image with distance to these galaxies (in million light years).
