Seagull Nebula

This is Seagull Nebula. A broad expanse of glowing gas and dust presents a bird-like view to us from planet Earth, suggesting its popular moniker – The Seagull Nebula. This 2-panel mosaic of the cosmic bird covers a 2.5 degree area (about 20 times the apparent size of the Moon) near the direction of Sirius, the brightest star visible from northern hemisphere. Likely part of a larger structure formed by successive supernova explosions, the broad Seagull Nebula is cataloged as IC 2177. This complex of gas and dust clouds spans 249 light-years at the Seagull Nebula’s estimated 3,600 light-year distance.

This is imaged with SV130 f/6.6 & QSI 683wsg. Processed using StarXTerminator in Pixinsight. This is a 2 panel mosaic. Integration time for each of the mosaic is as follows:
L- 10min x 15; RGB – 5min x 9
